What to Wear for Your Personal Branding Photoshoot?
It’s time to update the professional photos for your website and social media! You’ve found the photographer, scheduled the shoot, and all that’s left is picking out your outfits!
Seems daunting, I know! But don’t worry, we got you! You want to be sure you look polished and professional, but you also want to be comfortable and stay true to your unique style. Here are some tips on what to wear for your next personal branding photoshoot!
Choose Classic Styles that Can Be Worn Year Round
The last thing you want is for your photos to look outdated in a few months. Choose classic styles that will still be in fashion no matter the season. For example, if you’re wearing a dress, choose something that’s timeless and can be worn year round like a wrap dress or an A-line shirt dress. The same goes for any shirts or jackets – stick with classic styles that can easily transition with the seasons.
Choose Colors That Will Match Your Location
When choosing colors for your outfits, make sure they coordinate with each other as well as the background of where the shoot will take place. It’s best to go with neutral tones like white, black, grey, navy blue, etc., so that it doesn’t clash with any potential outdoor backgrounds. BUT, that doesn’t mean your shouldn’t choose at least 1 outfit that is fun and includes a bright color that makes you pop (if that’s what you’re going for.)
I’d Recommend 3-4 Outfit Changes for Variety
Depending on how long your session is going to be, I would recommend bringing 3-4 different outfits so that we can get a variety of photos. This way when it comes time for editing there will already be plenty of options available so we can keep things fresh and exciting!
When Choosing Outfits Consider What Works Best For Your Professional Career & What You Are Most Comfortable In
Think about what works best for your career field when selecting what clothes you bring along – if most days consist of suits then it might not make sense to show up in jeans and t-shirt because that isn’t how people recognize you professionally. However if casual attire is more common in your line of work then feel free to show up dressed accordingly! Lastly, make sure whatever outfit choices you bring are something YOU feel comfortable in – after all this photoshoot is going online representing YOU!
